Erenkoy Ilkogretim Okulu had reviewed its education system in the year of 2005 and decided to change its targets which are better aligned with today's environment and expectations. Within this project; new target, vision and mission statements had been developed. New target is defined as to be a leading governmental school in the country by implementing modern education systems which are mainly focused on its students and their environment. Erenkoy Ilkogretim Okulu had decided to apply Total Quality Management System to achieve its target. With this project it is expected that students will become; research oriented global thinkers, understanding the power of working as a team, willing to improve themselves continuously and more respectful to their environment. Briefly, Erenkoy Ilkogretim Okulu wants to be a "Dream School" by training its students as challenging individuals in today's global world.
Project is positively going on. Communication was improved drastically between school's management, parents and students. Students are being continuously observed for their improvements by applying some questionnaires on them and their parents. Social activities had been increased and some student activities had been presented in other countries like U.S.A. As a result of this project, Erenkoy Ilkogretim Okulu was awarded with a National Achievement Award in May, 2007 by KALDER. One of the future steps of the project is to establish a relationship with similar European School(s) for benchmarking purposes. Later on, it is targeted to send selected students to these schools under "student scholarship program" for a defined duration as well as accepting students from these schools. Another step is to improve cooperation with leading universities in Turkey by applying new education systems as well as some physiologic and sociological studies on the students.
We have observed that success has been increased when the studies has been applied under a well established team work concept. Additionally, inviting other social and municipal organizations to the team had a positive impact on the students by working with well educated people.
