Creation and coordination - at the level of Bucharest City – of several work-groups, composed of local authorities and Roma representatives. Elaboration of different sectoral plans and common agreements. Information campaigns, aiming at improving the general situation of the Roma citizens in Bucharest.
The project helped all the partners involved to make big important steps in dealing with the Roma problems, but also in finding important ways to cooperate. The work-groups have already become a tradition for consultations and also an important instrument for taking legitimate decisions, through getting to consensus, after previous debates. This strategic partnership is the most important work frame for all the local authorities, and it permits a permanent contact with the Roma NGO’s. The monitoring and the reports elaborated by the Prefecture as a result of the implemented strategy are also important instruments for the Government, in elaborating its own strategies, at national level. The project will continue using the same methods as the ones described above. The strategy will be periodically actualized and after establishing new priorities, new measures will be also defined. It is expected that the activities gain more and more variety, as the emergency issues will be solved, and the attention will move towards new domains.
We've clearly learned very much about the team work, especially since the team members were coming from varied institutions or NGOs, having totally different backgrounds and professional methods. Another big lesson was the distribution of the tasks, as everyone had to choose the segment of the strategy where he could best perform, and hold the complete responsibility for the implementation of that segment.
