From EPSA - European Public Sector Award

Short description of the project

Weetulex is an intranet-based internal documentation system that organises and puts to use data (facts, not figures) to be consulted by all employees of the Ministry of Education of the Flemish Community in Belgium.

Current status and future steps for the project

The project has to be adapted to the changes in the organisation of the Flemish administration: the project plan to achieve this is in the final stage of approval by the hierarchy. Future Steps:

  1. The project-plan to adapt Weetulex to the recent changes in de organisation of the Flemish administration has been finalised, and should start from September 2007 onwards.
  2. Weetulex will create a new internet or extranet based documentation system to be used by all basic and secondary schools of the Flemish Community.

Lessons learned

It is always worth investigating if a project can be realised through a creative approach, if possible with a limited financial impact. Most government agencies nowadays have a large and well-trained staff. Enabling all these graduates and masters to tackle problems with creativity can lead to surprising results.
